Patient Who Suffer From Migraines Are More Prone To To Suffer From Depression
Man suffering from chronic headache, specifically migraine disorder, are more predisposed to suffer from depression disorder, feel fatigued, and have a host of other strict physical symptoms, according to a study published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
The clinical trial involved 1600 woman who buy cymbalta online at headache clinics in three countries. Of the women surveyed, 353 reported episodic headache (less than 15 headaches monthly) and 332 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the man were tested with migraines.
The medical trial found patients with chronic headache were four times more inclined than those with incidental headache to report symptoms of major Manic Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also four times more inclined to report a high degree of symptoms connected to headache, pain or puzzle during intercourse.
Among man diagnosed with severely disabling migraine, the clinical trial found the likelihood of major Psychotic Depression increased 32-fold if the man also reported other severe symptoms.
“Painful physical symptoms would agitate or be a manifestation of major Depression in people with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy maxalt online and Major Depression should heighten pain perception,” said clinical research author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This link between migraine and major Major Depression suggests a frequent neurobiology.”
Tietjen says medical research are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Psychotic Depression can be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.
“Careless of what’s causing the connection between migraine and Atypical Depression, psychiatric disorder such as Psychotic Depression complicates headache management and can arouse poorer consequences for headache management,” said Tietjen.
The medical study was assistanced, in part, by the American Headache Society, which judges 18 million American patients suffer from headache.
The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 16000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to improving patient care through education and clinical trial. A neurologist is a osteopath with specialized training in monitoring, treating and managing disorders of the brain and nervous system such as apoplexy, Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, Parkinson sickness, and multiple sclerosis.
